NAACP, UDW, CAUSE, SBCAN, SANTA MARIA VALLEY DEMOCRATIC CLUB, AND LOMPOC VALLEY DEMOCRATIC CLUB, TO HOLD UNITY RALLY RENOUNCING AND REJECTING HATRED AND BIGOTRY IN ALLIANCE WITH CHARLOTTESVILLE, VIRGINIA.

The National Association For The Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), United Domestic Workers (UDW), Central Coast Alliance For A Sustainable Economy (CAUSE), Santa Barbara County Action Network (SBCAN), Santa Maria Valley Democratic Club, and the Lompoc Valley Democratic Club are collaborating to show

their support for Charlottesville, Virginia by renouncing and rejecting hate and bigotry.

 

Rallies are planned on Sunday, August 20, 2017 beginning at 2:00 p.m. at the southeast corner of Betteravia Road and Miller Street, Santa Maria and Monday, August 21, 2017 beginning at 5:30 p.m., at the corner of H and Ocean Streets, Lompoc.  Their theme “RENOUNCING AND REJECTING HATE AND BIGOTRY.”

United Domestic Workers of America (UDW)/AFSCME Local 3930 is a homecare union made up of over 66,000 in-home caregivers across the state of California. UDW caregivers provide care through the state’s In-Home Supportive Services program (IHSS), which allows hundreds of thousands of seniors and people with disabilities to stay safe and healthy at home.

 

CAUSE is a nonprofit community group that empowers working families, immigrant communities and young people to vote and elect candidates that represent us. Its mission is to build grassroots power to invoke social, economic and environmental justice for the people of California’s Central Coast Region through policy research, leadership development, organizing, and advocacy.

 

Santa Barbara County Action Network (SBCAN) is a countywide grassroots organization that works to promote social and economic justice, to preserve our environmental and agricultural resources, and to create sustainable communities.

 

The Democratic Club of Santa Maria Valley is chartered by the Santa Barbara County Democratic Central Committee and has a strong voice in the Santa Maria Valley. The DCSMV informs the voting public of the important issues that promote Santa Maria as a family-friendly community. Members are motivated to advance a progressive platform; have a clear appreciation for unions, public education, and the environment. Some of our goals are to provide reliable information and facts before going to the voting polls.

 

The Lompoc Valley Democratic Club is chartered by the Santa Barbara County Democratic Central Committee and is open to any registered Democrat or person who supports the platform and principles of the Democratic Party.   Their goals are to increase knowledge of political issues, legislation, candidates, and elected officials; to seek and elect qualified candidates; to concentrate and increase the influence of the Democratic Party in the community for the solution of social and civic problems.
