James Boyd, the president of the Portsmouth chapter of the NAACP, said he had “zero trust” in the inquiry and believed that it had been improperly tilted toward Mr. Northam. The firm, he said at the news conference where Eastern Virginia announced the results of the investigation, seemed to be “attorneys for Ralph.”

Parents said students at North Elementary in Watertown were forced to act out a painful time in U.S. history. Instead of using a textbook or education movie to teach students about slavery, parents said a 4th grade teacher made students act out a slave auction.

Hundreds gathered Saturday in College Station for the 37th annual NAACP Freedom Fund Banquet. The event was hosted by the Brazos County NAACP Branch at the College Station Hilton. There were multiple speakers at the event that awards several scholarships each year to local students.

The Georgetown County chapter of the NAACP held a press conference Friday morning where they requested, among other things, to have a forensic audit performed on the county’s finances. NAACP leaders say that they believe there are a number of problems here in Georgetown County such as there not being enough minority employees of the county and are concerned about how the county has been managed.
