Treasury, IRS launch new tool to help non-filers register for Economic Impact Payments

The Treasury Department and the Internal Revenue Service today launched a new web tool allowing quick registration for Economic Impact Payments for those who don’t normally file a tax return. This tool is designed to address the immediate needs of the target population we collectively aim to outreach and serve: Californians that may not have a tax return filing requirement.

While this tool will be useful to many, it is important that grantees continue to make every effort to advise and inform Californians that they may be eligible to receive significant additional financial and non-monetary benefits by filing their taxes for free to receive the CalEITC, federal EITC, and the Young Child Tax Credit.

Economic Impact Payments are vitally important to low-income Californians during this challenging time, but many are eligible for and deserve much more.
