Santa Ynez Valley residents and trail enthusiasts will want to know about an important public comment opportunity regarding a CalTrans proposal to remove the Alamo Pintado Creek Pedestrian Bridge in Los Olivos. The bridge has been used by pedestrians, bicyclists, and equestrians for decades. The current proposal is to remove – but not replace the bridge. Community members can send in letters through October 9th or make comments at a virtual meeting on Tuesday, 9/22 at 5 pm. More details below.

Public Comment Sought for State Route 154 Alamo Pintado Creek Pedestrian Bridge Project

Caltrans District 5 is accepting public comments on a proposal to remove the Alamo Pintado Creek Pedestrian Bridge adjacent to Foxen Canyon Road and Railway Avenue in Los Olivos.
Caltrans is considering alternatives that include removing and replacing the bridge. More details about the project and the alternatives can be found here.
The public is invited to participate in a virtual public meeting on Tuesday, September 22, from 5 pm to 7 pm. Click the link for more information on how to join.

An in-person public meeting will NOT be held due to COVID-19.
Comments can be submitted through Friday, October 9.

Rental Assistance Available for Unincorporated Residents
The COVID-19 Emergency Rental Assistance program is providing limited rental assistance funds to eligible County of Santa Barbara residents, living in unincorporated areas of the County, that have experienced a loss of income due to the COVID-19 pandemic and can demonstrate the need for rental support.

Unincorporated cities include but are not limited to:•Burton Mesa •Casmalia •Cuyama •Eastern Goleta Valley •Gaviota•Isla Vista •Los Alamos •Los Olivos•Montecito•Orcutt•Santa Ynez•Summerland•Vandenberg Village

Eligible applicants must have income at or below the following limits:

After you complete and submit your application, your application will be sent to Family Service Agency, United Way of Santa Barbara County’s contracted partner agency, for case management services.
