Detroit Free Press: NAACP debunks message falsely claiming that white supremacists plan violence this weekend
A false message circulating widely via text message and social media claims that the NAACP was informed that white nationalist, neo-Nazi and white supremacist groups were planning violence this weekend. The messages are false. The NAACP refuted the claim that it had received any such information.

Fox 5 Atlanta: NAACP encourages African Americans in Georgia to vote in runoffs
Last Tuesday was not the end of the election season in Georgia as both Senate races have gone into runoffs scheduled for early January. The NAACP is working to get the word out among Georgians.

News 4 Jax: Historic Black voter turnout in 2020 presidential election
“This was the most strategic and largest initiative for voters,” said NAACP President Derrick Johnson. $15 million dollars was spent on the initiative, which included the states of Michigan, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Georgia, Texas and Alabama. The organization used social media, text messages and radio ads.”

ABC: Rights groups ask to join fight against Trump election suit
Kenneth Huston, president of the NAACP Pennsylvania chapter, said his organization joined the case because “most mail-in balloting was done by African Americans and people of color,” arguing that Black Americans would be predominantly affected by any ruling in favor of the Trump campaign.

Myers said she hopes to serve as a bridge between Minneapolis residents and state and local government leaders and policy makers. She is in the process of creating the chapter’s policy agenda for 2021 and will keep a close eye on issues related to COVID-19 and housing stability when the Minnesota Legislature convenes in January.

Angela Rose Myers, 25, was elected president of the Minneapolis Branch of the NAACP at Monday’s meeting. “I’m so thankful and honored, and humbled,” Myers said.

In the 2020 election, one of the key demographics for the Biden/Harris ticket was African Americans. According to NBC News exit polls, 87% of African Americans voted for the President and Vice-President-Elect. Akia Callum is one of the many people with the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People who worked to get more people out to the polls.

Barring any legal challenges from the Trump Campaign, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are heading to the White House. It is no question that Harris’s projected victory as vice president-elect is a historical moment in U.S. history. “Now a black female becomes our vice president of the United States of America – that is history,” Reverand Gerald Arnold, the president of the Evansville NAACP said.

Pantagraph: A Crack in the Glass Ceiling: Kamala Harris win inspires Bloomington-Normal women
Linda Foster, president of the Bloomington-Normal branch of the NAACP, said the Saturday announcement was a win for the Black community. She said the organization had a strong turnout effort. “For generations, African-Americans have endured the brutal hand of systemic racism and discrimination. This is more than a win — this is a movement toward justice. We will hold all elected officials equally accountable,” she said.

Local Memphis: Voting rights for African Americans in Haywood County stem from a dark past
Haywood County has a population of more than 17,000 people. More than 7 thousand people cast their ballots last week, mainly democratic. Back in 1940, there was a team of people from the Haywood County NAACP working to get Blacks the right to vote. And some even lost their lives doing so. “Everyone who was attached to that NAACP branch was terrorized in some sort of way,” said Leslie McGraw, the great grandniece of Elbert Williams.
